![]() ![]() All the tracks from the original 10-inch album Miles Davis with Sonny Rollins, are on the 12-inch and they're all great Miles and great Rollins (it features the debut of three now-jazz-standards written by Rollins) plus there's an a second take of one of the piece on there. In terms of LP, I have Relaxin', Cookin' and Bag's Groove on the old OJC vinyl releases and they're great, but they've been reissued so much on LP that there are lots of specialty audiophile options too.īag's Groove is one of those Prestige 12-inchers that had tracks from the sessions for two different albums that were originally released as 10-inchers. ![]() When I think of Miles Davis I think of Miles fronting the '50s quintet stepping up to the mike with the Harmon-muted trumpet to play "My Funny Valentine" or "If I Were a Bell." And Relaxin' and Cookin' are some off my most played albums in any genre across a lifetime of listening to music. But these are the albums I love the most I think. I'm not a fan at all of the post-retirement music. I like all eras of Miles' music up to the mid-'70s retirement. And and general '50s Miles from all different bands is that the era of Miles music I find myself returning to most. My favorite Miles band is the '50s quintet. These are probably the Miles albums I've returned to and still return to most often. ![]()
